Well, it was certainly worth the wait! It is a triumph and how you can say your are not a quilter? it is exquistitely made and I am sure will be greatly loved.
I am so sorry about your mum and know how distressing these late night phone calls can be. Thank goodness she wasn't further injured and am so glad it didn't cause her any distress.
Thank you Deborah. I never think of myself as a quilter because I know how much I dislike the process… and I am very slapdash. Although there has been a lot more quilting than painting or drawing here of late so maybe I need to rethink!
And thank you for your kind words about my Mum who has rallied once again.
I started on a quilt for my older son and his wife just over couple of years ago, starting on a couple of blocks in the October and realising I wouldn’t get it done by Christmas, I made a couple of cushions for them instead…only they didn’t get completed until the following April!!
Nearly two years after that, I have 20 blocks pinned to a mattress (great design wall!) leaning against the end wall in my studio. One day I will get the quilt done…after all, I’ve already done the tricky part haven’t I??!! 🤣🤣
Oh Gina - it’s totally fabulous! Your grandson will love it and hopefully it will get passed on as an heirloom! Well done - you are so good at finishing things - even if it does take a while!
Sorry to hear about your Mum but good that she wasn’t too traumatised xx
I admit I had second thoughts about the tank and had left it until last but the bicycle didn’t work well and by that stage I couldn’t think of an alternative
so sorry about your Mom, must have been very distressing. Congrats on finishing the quilt, hope it becomes a family heirloom, lovely pattern to have for grandchildren, in my case great grandchildren, none yet.You really are a tour de force, a whirling dervish, you get so much done. Really enjoyed this post, thank you.
Thank you Marilyn. Although I’m not sure that taking forty years to finish a quilt is very efficient 😂. Nothing like a deadline to make me finish something though!
Congratulations Gina, what a beauty. I know each of my brothers (and my sister!) would be chuffed to have received this quilt. Never to be daunted by a UFO, you got there.
Beautiful, Gina. Congratulations on finishing it 40 years on. I hope your grandson treasure it and maybe it get passed on to his offspring one day. 😀❤️
Deeply satisfying to get that finished, label on delivered to deserving grandchild! 👏👏
It was very satisfying indeed!

Thank you Amy!
Well done on completing your fabulous quilt!! 🎉🎉
It really is great!

Only two years? That’s pretty speedy 😂 and as you say, all the tricky work is done!
Haha 🤣🤣
I haven’t mentioned my first ever sampler quilt I started in 2012!! Or the quilt I started as a wedding present in 2018!! 🙄😏
I like your style 😉
The quilt is really beautiful! A very lucky grandson. I'm sure the quilt will be a family heirloom.
Thank you Bronwyn

Thank you Gill. Thankfully both father and son loved it! Sokratis was fascinated by how I made it too which was lovely.
Sadly mum isn’t great and in a lot of pain. She’s on a lot of medication and mostly sleeping all day, not really eating.
Wonderful, Gina ... and well worth the wait!
Thank you Annie. Fortunately he loved it!
That’s good!
Such a lovely gift ! (though I hate the tank . . . a bicycle would have been better !)
I admit I had second thoughts about the tank and had left it until last but the bicycle didn’t work well and by that stage I couldn’t think of an alternative
(a police car, a wheelbarrow . . . nothing to be done now . . .)
As I said it was all a bit last minute.

Thank you Lesley. I got there eventually 😂

Thank you Catherina. He’s been lying on it and playing on it all day so I think he likes it!
What a wonderful quilt. Your grandson will surely love it. And a great story.
Thank you Thelma. I think he likes it!
Amazing in every way! As a knitter/crocheter/sewer I appreciate all the hours gone into making this
Thank you Elaine. I crocheted his little sister a blanket last year so really did think I needed to finish this. All the hours were worth it
That's wonderful! I'm sure he will love it!
Thank you June! He did thankfully 😅
Wowza! And massive congratulations for sticking with it, and finishing - it’s fantastic, and I’m sure will be loved by both father and son!
Thank you. It’s good to know I can finish things eventually and thankfully they both loved it!
