I won't tell how how long I have had a hexagon quilt languishing, half made in the loft...I think your choice of backing very clever, especially with the binding. Have you read Tracy Chevalier's "A Single Stitch"? It is an stitch - inspired novel that I loved and am sure you would too.
Time to get that quilt out maybe? I also had a partially made hexagon quilt that had sat around for way too long. Eventually I realised I was never going to finish it as I didn't even like it that much so I gave it away to someone whose mother-in-law was a quilter. Within a couple of month she had finished it into a lovely single bed sized quilt and it felt good to let it go!
I think maybe the book you are referring to is A Single Thread? About a single woman who works on tapestry kneelers at a cathedral? Another excellent Tracey Chevalier book.
I would love to be relieved of the burden of it, I must confess! I will pull it out and see if I can somehow round it off. The fabric has so many memories sewn within it and it seems a pity that it languished in the loft. Yes, I do mean that book- I must have had a senior moment! It is such a great read.
What a great idea backing it with fleece, it looks lovely, Gina. I actually really like the colours, horses for courses as they say, it would look lovely on a garden bench in the summer, it's much too nice to put on the floor! I'm so pleased you managed to finish one, that's a huge achievement and a big tick off the list. x
The colours are much more 'me' now I've added the bright binding. Floor or a bench... I don't mind as long as it gets used and not shoved back in the drawer in the spare bedroom!
I really like the colour choices in this quilt, think of them as a restful contrast to your usual colour choices. I thoroughly enjoyed both the Carol Shields Happenstance and Margaret’s Alias Grace, (some years ago) onward now to listen to Lucy!
I definitely prefer the colours now it's finished. Good to hear someone else enjoyed the books too. I'm always wary about recommending books but they are interesting reads.
I’m impressed with the finishing! And like the colours, too, very soothing - the pink binding is a great twist, keeps it quirky!
Thank you. The slightly mismatched pink binding makes it far more me!

I do think unfinished things play on our minds even if we are not aware of it so it’s good to either finish or pass it on
I fear they do...it will be good to haul it out and see what can be done!

And it's always such a lovely feeling when you can look at something that's being used and think "I made that." You are very clever. x
I loved the quilt and your book reviews. Tracy Chevalier is one of my favourite authors.
Thank you Yvonne
