Thank you for this, Gina. Such interesting stories and photos. Our son and family live in St Albans, so you’ve just given me lots of reasons to go out and explore more of Hertfordshire on my next visit .
What a fabulous story of the pieman (believe it or not I have heard similar stories on the markets today of people bragging about earnings then being robbed on the way home!) I am so pleased you found this beautiful church, the windows are absolutely stunning, Gina, thank you so much for all your hand work doing the research and sharing it with everyone.
A window *not* by Harry Clarke strikes a chord. I feel certain that the jewel colours and the execution of the fine detail owe a lot to the original artist’s vision. Lovely piece !!
I used to live in Buntingford so knew the area quite well but had never heard the story of the robbery! Thank you for posting the story I really enjoyed it. Those windows in the church were so beautiful.
Thank you Gina, that’s fascinating and so close to home, I can feel an outing coming on. I was also interested to read about the Chagall windows and am hoping to plan a trip in that direction in the spring. I love reading your posts, a Sunday morning treat with a cup of coffee, thank you
Thanks Gina, I am always taking photos of church windows. So beautiful especially when the sun shines through. I thoroughly enjoyed the story too. More please.. Joy.

It’s well worth a visit Sue and not too far from St Albans

That’s awful to think something similar goes on today. I have discovered that I really enjoy the research part of writing
I feel a book coming on from you, Gina!

It was definitely my favourite!
Thank you Gina for your fascinating post. What amazing windows! And a great, though rather gruesome story too.
The story didn’t really have anything to do with the church and the windows but was too good not to mention!
Agreed!

I had never heard the story either and I have eaten in the pub where his body was taken before burial!
