Very well said! It’s a lovely stitched portrait, but I also like the sepia Judy - if I don’t have to choose which medium I prefer, I don’t see why you have to choose one over the other either! Whichever suits the mood, and lets you express what you want how you want? (And numbers are nonsense - I have oodles of page likes, but only ever the same small band of people who like/comment each post, as always!)

Thank you. I have learned to ignore social media numbers but the sudden huge response to that stitched portrait triggered something! I was really indignant... it's an okay stitched portrait that I'm happy with but the painting I have just finished of Judy is far more skilled, has a lot more work and I love it! In my mind there is no comparison. In our own minds we know that there is no point seeking outside validation for what we do and we certainly don't need anyone else to tell us what path to take but as I said it still feels good when people like what we do. Which feels confusing! Hope you are having a better few days... read your newsletter yesterday but was out all day so didn't leave a comment. Hang on in there friend... better (and warmer) days will come. I have Raynaulds too so I feel your pain. I am constantly cold from November through to the end of March!

I’m ok, thank you ☺️ just did all the household chores despite a supposed share arrangement, so I’m slightly miffed about that - but not angry as I recognise it’s my decision, and I didn’t want to still be looking at grubby floors this afternoon! I’m also partially avoiding my room, as I’m feeling a little insecure about what’s on the desk, but it’s all part of the process xx

Well written and so pertinent to all I really admire your change of medium but so pleased you have not totally given up on stitch. You are one creative lady who , believe it or not, has totally inspired me both in embroidery for more freedom and machine embroidery I suspect that were it not for your freedom in stitch I would still just be cross stitching- nothing wrong with it that but exploration and new discoveries are what makes us fly.

Thanks Gina. And as for Judy… a painted portrait followed by a stitch. Or half painted and half stitched… why not? Play and explore and love your creativity xxx

Thank you so much Yvonne for your kind words and support. The creative path can be a tricky one to negotiate at times but knowing there are people out there interested in what we doing can make it all feel worthwhile. As for Judi… I’ve done another version in paint and feel much happier. Maybe stitch will follow!
