I did wonder if this fabulous dinner service might have been an influence for Judy Chicago even subconsciously. Although it wouldn’t have been on public display back then. I know myself I sometimes think of ideas that then subsequently feel familiar.
Charleston is definitely on the cards for this year
Thank you for the information and putting the pictures into context. I met with a friend last week, she had been to the exhibition and highly recommended I go. Which I will do before it changes.
I'm glad you made it to our wonderful MK Gallery and the Vanessa Bell exhibition. I am very lucky that it's just on our doorstep. Like you, I knew very little about Vanessa Bell or her art. I thought the exhibition did a brilliant job of giving an account of her life and the times she lived in, alongside her work. My favourites were also the evocative interiors and the portraits. And those extraordinary plates! I liked the way the exhibition more or less let them speak for themselves.
It’s only the second time I have visited the gallery but it’s a lovely space and such a good exhibition too. I hope you are keeping well Thelma. It’s good to hear from you x
So interesting about the dinner service. I wonder if Judy Chicago had ever heard of it? We absorb things without awareness.
When you do get to Charleston, you’ll love it all the more for finally getting there.

So interesting, Gina. I love the dinner service, I'd never heard of it before.
I never knew about the dinner service before either. It really is stunning
Another fabulous history and art lesson, Gina. It sounds like a great exhibition. I too would like to visit Charleston at some point.
Thank you Annie. It’s such an interesting exhibition, I’m sure you would love it
